Under general direction, The Development DBA role provides leadership and support for Database instances that are in Development and production environments. The primary function of this role is to partake in the development of the application from the database perspective, which is inclusive of writing stored procedures, triggers, functions as well as improvising design for performance and effectiveness. Though this role is primarily focused on development, there is accountability for data management and storage in the development environments.
The incumbent is recognized as the technical expert in matters pertaining to database development and performance. This role must establish data standards associated with effective query writing, and propagate standardized design patterns across the data management practice.
As part of the Enterprise Data Management Practice (EDMP), the Development DBA supports all areas of: data quality and standardization; data definition; data modeling; and metadata repository management functions.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Candidate will identify and resolve locking conflicts, latch contention, and rollback requirements for MembersEdge database instances. Candidate will also perform modifications, changes or other maintenance necessary to correct errors allowing the database to operate according to its applicable specifications, and any applicable service levels. Candidate will provide technical assistance and subject-matter expertise to applications developers and third-party vendor support as requested.
Candidate will research MembersEdge application performance issues, provide scheduling modifications to reduce cycle critical path, provide database index tuning to improve job performance and understand and use buffer pools settings where applicable.
