  • Overview

    The PEGA System Area Technical Lead is responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of business applications using Pega PRPC and other Pega frameworks and out of the box (OOB) features.  This position plays a significant role in ensuring that the application quality and design is of the highest quality standards and not only meets the needs of the business today but also supports future expansion for new features down the road.  The PEGA SATL is considered a technical leader and is responsible for the oversight and direction of implementation of PRPC based solutions, including the enterprise class structure and the basic design of the application.  This role is responsible and accountable for ensuring the business and technical implementation of the delivered solution matches customer technical and functional requirements.  This position communicates with NDT as well as Product teams, COE, Architecture, Plan Customers, and other departments across NASCO. 

    Responsibilities

    Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Provides technical direction and oversight to the system area resources for major system changes and issues, as requested by the SMEs
    • Assists the technical team in DCO sessions and works with the LSA while gathering and understanding requirements to make sure the best possible solutions are implemented
    • Acts as the primary contact and authority for the NDT team to use to provide technical direction, answer questions, etc.
    • Reviews the technical solution and oversees the technical team in development activities while ensuring adherence to the COE standards and best practices
    • Provides coaching and mentoring to the Team as needed
    • Oversees activities involved in requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing and production deployment
    • Validates final delivered solutions meet and perform to technical and functional requirements
    • Provides technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of issues, including escalation to Pega support when needed
    • Collaborates with NASCO, Partner, Plan and Pega team members to ensure NASCO and Plans are successful by effectively managing and delivering in different work environments and by understanding differences in dynamics, timing and nuances
    • Provides thought leadership to NASCO, Plan and Partner team members, crossing business and technical project dimensions and solving complex business requirements and demonstrates forward-thinking considering where NASCO is going and how Pega systems technology can support these efforts
    • Communicates with SDM on initiatives involving their System Area for the purpose of forecasting staffing needs and advises SDM when demand and capacity appear out of balance and make recommendations to adjust
    • Collaborates with other SATLs for cross system gaps and improvement needs
    • Expected to regularly check AES logs and Pega Guardrail reports to ensure the health of all the applications
    • Advises SDM on reoccurring system area issues so long term solutions can be defined
    • Provides feedback to SDM on team performance, system issues and team challenges
    • Collaborates with Tech Leads, Architects, Infrastructure and Business, as needed when determining solution direction
    • Considers performance and other architectural factors when providing guidance and direction
    • Assists with Help Desk tickets and Technical Operations as needed
    • Follows the NASCO CSR and NDT Development processes, guidelines and standards.
    • Performs other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:

    • Knowledge of Healthcare client business processes, best practices, & policies
    • Experience leading projects using either Agile or Smart BPM methodologies
    • Expertise in a variety of technologies, including, but not limited to, WebSphere or Weblogic, J2EE (JSP, Servlets, EJB, XML, Java), Oracle, DB2, and MS/SQL
    • Strong Object Oriented Design / Development experience
    • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle including design, configuration, testing, debugging, implementation, and support of large-scale, business-centric and process-based applications
    • Demonstrated technical team leadership of enterprise wide application development
    • Ability to mentor and lead junior members of team
    • Professional communication skills
    • Ability to make effective decisions backed by research
    • Ability to explain the “why” or reasoning behind proposed solutions and articulate several options, the pro’s and con’s for each, and ultimately a recommended approach
    • Minimum of 8 years of Pega PRPC, Healthcare applications (CPM-HC, Claims Workstation, Appeals and grievance) development experience
    • CSSA certified with at least 3 years PRPC technical leadership experience on large scale projects

    Required Training and Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree with a computer science, engineering, business or mechanical engineering major or related field, or equivalent experience
    • CSSA certification

     

    Desired Training and Education:

    • Certification in a relevant software discipline
