    This is an exciting opportunity for someone with little or no mainframe experience willing to be trained on everything needed to be successful in a mainframe environment.  Learn real world mainframe technology skills that will be in high demand for many years to come.  The mainframe is a key technology asset for major corporations around the world.


    Your training will be part of our NASCO Technical Mainframe Academy which kicks off in June 2019.  This is a core mainframe programming curriculum designed to accelerate your technical learning with real world training scenarios and specialized classes.  Our Technical Mainframe Academy includes over 500 hours of mainframe and healthcare training sessions, which focus on mainframe languages, processing, tools, programming concepts and healthcare overview.  After training there is a month Shadow Phase where you would learn a particular system area by working closely with a mentor on previous system enhancements.  The last part of your training is the Parallel Phase.  This includes working side by side with your mentor on a current system enhancement to successful completion.

    When training is complete, the responsibilities going forward include:

    • Works with Plan customers and NASCO Associates to review and clarify test plans, testing, and construction results.  Implements system enhancements and fixes to maximize NPS performance
    • Participates in quality assurance and code reviews
    • Researches and resolves model office and production issues so claims can be paid accurately and timely
    • Applies sound judgment, and discretion in developing and designing computerized information systems solutions for business problems to meet expanding or changing business requirements
    • Codes changes in accordance with the technical design documentation and coding standards.
    • Provides peer reviews and  walkthroughs of system enhancements
    • Tests output against requirements to ensure the program functions as specified by the customer
    • Promotes code into appropriate systems while validating and monitoring the output to ensure the code works per requirements
    • Provides support of both model office and production environments
    • Maintains technical design documentation for quality control purposes
    • Manages CSR workload by reviewing assigned CSRs to improve timely delivery and to, prevent aging
    • Generates ad hoc reports for the Plan customers to support research and analysis, recovery efforts, and post-implementation check out of system enhancements
    • Performs other duties as assigned by manager or team lead


    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Certification, Education and Experience:

    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, and can operate in large teams that work closely with clients
    • Sound time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and deliver on time
    • Proven communication skills, a passion to learn and your strong analytical skills to solve problems are a must
    • Strong ability to work well with other people and cross functional teams and being able to adapt to the changing environment
    • Capable of partnering and networking with the NASCO IT community while working alongside Top Talent
    • Working knowledge of business software applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, engineering, information technology or equivalent
    • Must have graduated by May 2019
