Overview

Under general direction, the Senior Manager, Knowledge Management role has overall accountability for the services delivered by the Enterprise Knowledge Management team. The Senior Manager will lead and direct full-service teams designing and delivering enterprise-facing and plan-facing Knowledge Management solutions. As the business owner of the corporate intranet and extranet environments, this role manages business implementation, change management, and rollout of upgrades and migrations, governance, ongoing user support, information architecture design, and management of enterprise content, including user interface, and collaboration with supporting technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements Knowledge Management (KM) strategies and frameworks
  • Establishes and communicates best practices for knowledge capture, sharing and retention
  • Maintains and improves knowledge repositories, ensuring accessibility, usability
  • Organizes, curates and maintains knowledge assets, ensuring relevance and accuracy
  • Oversees taxonomy, metadata and tagging systems for easy retrieval
  • Ensures compliance with information governance and data security policies
  • Facilitates communication and collaboration between departments to foster a culture of knowledge sharing
  • Identifies and implements knowledge management platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, wikis or AI-driven solutions)
  • Provides consultative services for KM tools and methodologies
  • Leverages automation and AI to enhance knowledge retrieval and sharing
  • Evaluates and improves existing KM tools and systems
  • Develops metrics to assess the effectiveness of KM initiatives
  • Identifies gaps in knowledge-sharing processes and recommend improvements
  • Manages the viability of the corporate intranet, extranet and other environments as needed to ensure availability of comprehensive, current and compliant solutions
  • Manages business impacts, communication and rollout of any updated solutions, including technology upgrades and environment migrations
  • Fosters collaboration between vendors, internal teams, and appropriate stakeholders to achieve KM and corporate goals and objectives
  • Leads, manages, and influences a team, including talent acquisition, coaching, training needs assessment, performance evaluation, goal setting, and ongoing feedback
  • Creates, manages and adheres to an annual departmental budget, balancing billable hours and target percentages, while optimizing the mix of contractors and associates to ensure steady work
  • Drives department strategic objectives and business outcomes in alignment to the organizational strategy

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Strong understanding of KM frameworks and best practices
  • Strong experience with knowledge management software and content management systems
  • Skilled in strategic thinking and creating initiatives that support the overall direction of the business
  • Ability to influence change
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and training skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience with systems development methodologies
  • Experience with testing and quality assurance practices
  • Advanced project and process management skills
  • Ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization

 

Experience:

  • 6 years of related experience in a technology company
  • 2 years working with systems development methodologies
  • 2 years of experience in a leadership role managing a Knowledge Management team at an enterprise level

 

Required Training, Certification and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Knowledge Management (or related field), or equivalent work experience
  • Enterprise Knowledge Management certification, such as eCKM

 

Preferred Training, Certification and Education:

  • SharePoint Certification
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
  • Six Sigma or Lean Certification

 

Working Conditions:

  • Location: Remote/Home office
  • Travel: Occasional overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air for meetings to the office or other areas  
  • Must be able to use equipment at workstation, in an indoor environment, for up to 8 hours daily
  • May be required to work a flexible work schedule, including weekend and evening availability during outages, security incidents, deployment and maintenance-window-oriented events
